Overview
The Europaeum Spring School 2026: Transatlantic Futures will take place from 13 to 15 April 2026 at the University of Oxford. The programme will gather master’s and doctoral researchers from Europaeum member universities to explore emerging dynamics shaping relations between Europe, the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
This Spring School provides a platform for multidisciplinary debate through group discussions, scenario workshops, and 15-minute research presentations from selected participants.
Theme & Context
The transatlantic relationship has historically shaped global politics, economics, security, and multilateral cooperation. From the Marshall Plan and NATO’s founding to contemporary coordination on climate, digital governance, and global security, Europe–North America relations continue to evolve.
Today, the partnership faces major shifts driven by:
- Global power competition
- Democratic backsliding and geopolitical realignments
- Climate and energy transitions
- Digital and technological governance
- Cybersecurity and information warfare
Understanding future transatlantic relations requires examining both traditional diplomacy and new areas of cooperation, including cyberspace, space exploration, migration policy, and global governance evolution.
The Spring School invites participants to investigate scenarios, methodologies, and case studies that illuminate possible futures for Europe’s engagement with the U.S., Canada, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
