Overview

Science Religion Health Spring School 2026 aims to equip early-career researchers with a solid theoretical and methodological foundation for social scientific research on the complex entanglements between science, religion, and health. The program is especially relevant for scholars examining how these domains interact in contemporary societies, public debates, healthcare systems, and moral frameworks.

This edition places a special emphasis on gender and sexual diversity, exploring how identities, power relations, and inequalities shape—and are shaped by—scientific knowledge, religious worldviews, and health practices. Participants will engage in critical discussions around biomedical technologies, healthcare ethics, religious diversity, and public controversies.

The Spring School combines:

  • Public lectures by internationally recognized scholars
  • Small-group paper sessions with peer and senior feedback
  • One-to-one mentoring encounters between early-career and senior researchers

In addition, the Spring School marks the beginning of a voluntary 5-month online Tutoring Program, where selected participants collaborate with senior scholars to develop a research paper for publication.

Confirmed keynote speakers include:

  • Amy Adamczyk (City University of New York)
  • Rebeca Catto (Kent State University)
  • Gabriela Irrazábal (RMIT Europe – UBA / CONICET)
  • Rosa Martinez Cuadros (OsloMet University)
