About the Award
The ESGE Next Generation Award was first introduced during ESGE Days 2024, marking the 60th anniversary of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE).
This prestigious award aims to recognize and support outstanding young investigators in gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopic research. It highlights the achievements of promising researchers and helps accelerate their academic and professional careers.
Up to five awardees will be selected based on their record of high-quality publications and demonstrated scientific independence.
Awardees will receive their recognition at ESGE Days 2026 (14–16 May 2026, Milan, Italy).
Attendance at the event is mandatory to receive the award.

- A travel and accommodation grant of up to €1,200

Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be an individual member of ESGE at the time of application
- Have primary residence and workplace in one of the ESGE member society countries
- Be born after 31 December 1984
- Have at least three original research articles on endoscopy published as first and/or corresponding/last author in a Q1 Journal (case reports, reviews, letters, or book chapters not accepted)
- Maintain an active Google Scholar profile
- Submit a nomination letter from an ESGE Member Society
- May be at any academic career level (including trainee), except “Full Professor”
- Be able to attend ESGE Days 2026 in person and present in fluent English
The award and its benefits must be accepted as offered and cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash.
