Overview

The World Forum for Democracy 2026 is a global platform that brings together policymakers, civil society, academics, and young leaders to discuss pressing democratic challenges and solutions.

This 14th edition focuses on “democratic foresight” — the ability of democracies to anticipate future risks and opportunities. As highlighted in the official concept note , democracies today face increasing threats such as disinformation, declining trust, inequality, and geopolitical instability.

Rather than reacting to crises, the forum emphasizes forward-looking strategies. Participants will explore how democratic systems can evolve, innovate, and remain resilient in a rapidly changing world.

Over three days, the forum will:

  • Analyze current democratic challenges
  • Explore future scenarios and risks
  • Present innovative initiatives in “democracy labs”
  • Encourage collaboration across sectors

Selected initiatives will be showcased and evaluated by experts, with one receiving the Democracy Innovation Award.
